For our fourth biennial Mount Airy Blooms Garden Tour! Garden selection is currently underway. Stay tuned for more information.
What does you dream garden look like? Is it a traditional design featuring carefully pruned formal hedges, symmetry, straight lines, and expanses of manicured lawn or is it a relaxed and informal cottage style garden with abundant colorful plantings trying to escape their rectangular beds? Maybe you prefer a Mediterranean garden with cobbled path encircling a fountain surrounded by colorful drought-tolerant plants and strongly scented herbs or the minimalistic Asian style garden integrating trees, flowers, and mosses with basic elements of water, stone, and sand designed to lull one into a meditative state.
Whatever your garden style, you are sure to find beauty and inspiration as you explore the gardens of Mount Airy! COMING SOON: descriptions of the individual gardens included in the June 8, 2024, Mount Airy Blooms Garden Tour can be found at: our "Gardens" page.

The Mount Airy Garden Clubs
Mount Airy’s three garden clubs — Garden Gate, Modern Gardeners and Mountain View — joined together six years ago to present the first garden tour the city had seen in many years. Funds raised from the tour are used for community projects.
Garden Gate takes care of the rose garden at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, cutting some of the roses when they are in bloom and taking them in to patient’s rooms.
Modern Gardeners maintains the mini-garden and fountain at the junction of North Main and Renfro streets, as well as the pollinator garden on Main Street near the Post Office.
Modern Gardeners and Garden Gate both offer special programming for Tharrington Elementary and Mount Airy High School Exceptional Children’s classes where the children always get something to take home and something to eat.
Mountain View will use its portion of the funds for the restoration of the gardens at the historic Moore house.
